After completely dry qualifying for the 2WD Championship here in Pinerolo Italy, showers before the finals presented a new conundrum for all the Drivers.

Englands Lee Martin started from pole with Riccardo Berton a surprise 2nd for Italy.
Leg 1 saw a textbook run from Lee winning with some ease, however in the 2nd leg the changing surface conditions and a lack of information about the progress of the race nearly caught out the Yokomo Driver and he slowed 1 lap too early almost handing victory to Michal Orlowski., but a good piece of defensive driving saw Lee over the line to claim his 6th European championship

The final leg saw a win for Schumacher and Poland’s Orlowski that enabled him to take the runner up spot in the championship.
The full top 10 is.

Last weekend the Fifth Hungarian Serpent S411 Endurance race was held at Pecs in 'Sportolda' sportshall. This race is running in a unique format. The organisers prepare 6 identical S411 RTR cars. The race starts with the draw of cars among the teams. 4 racers consists of a team, they are allowed to use their own batteries and transmitter, the rest is provided by the organiser team. The race has 6 etaps, 50 minutes of driving followed by 15 minutes service-parks. At halftime everybody is having a lunch altogether while cars are waiting in the parc-ferme. The main goal is to have a lot of fun and tracktime and build a nice team spirit. Each competitor receives a medal at the end of the race.

Report of the race from Jorn Neumann:

Last weekend I attended the Lyon GP for the first time. I must say it was one of the best carpet tracks I ever raced on. It was very technical and had maximum traction. Really challenging for driver and the material.

On Saturday it was only 2WD, with 2 Rounds practice, followed by 3 Qualifications and 2 8min mains. After qualifying I found myself in the 3rd position with the brand new Serpent SRX2 MH. A1 was good until the last couple were I just was unlucky, but still finished 3rd. A2 and still the podium was wide open. After a couple laps I could take the lead with a decent gap to 2nd place and cruise to the end to take the overall win!

Sunday and it was 4WD time. This time with the new Serpent SDX4. After practice I was 4th, I needed to find some more consistency as on one lap I was right there. We made some small changes and improved my 5min pace, just unlucky again as a marshall run on the track and hit my car. Q3 was better and I made a safe run to secure 4th on the grid for this time three 5min A-mains.

A1 was a close race between Bayer, Wollanka and me, I finished 3rd just 1.5sec behind. A2 Again a really close race. I was up to 2nd behind Wollanka with just a couple laps to go, but hit a dot and spun out. Finished 2nd just 0.9sec behind.

A3 I got a good start and could overtake Lee Martin after a couple laps. I tried to push hard to catch Bayer, but it was too much and I had a couple of mistakes which put me down. Overall I finished 3rd.

Another brilliant event was held at the Schumacher Indoor Masters round 4 at Worksop this past weekend.

There were 14 heats of entries across the 2 classes of 2wd and 4wd buggy. Once again a huge entry for an event.

This time the Worksop track crew had designed a very fast and flowing circuit, so lap times were going to be pretty quick!

Doors opened at the venue at 7AM and there was a huge flow of people entering the sports arena. Many racers keen to get back racing at the venue as we hadn't been able to have an event here since November, this due to the Christmas Holidays. Many drivers had nice new shiny kit to use that they had received for Christmas presents.

As always the qualifying format was round by round, with the best 2 results to count towards the final and grid position.

It was Danny McGee on form in 4wd qualifying, just ahead of Jack Neal and James Helliwell.

In 2wd it was very close between Neil Cragg and Danny McGee all day, with both drivers taking 2 round TQ's each, but Neil having the faster time which would see him line up on pole position. Adam Perei drove superb and would line up a brilliant 3rd on the grid.

Hello GP drivers,

Thank you for your entry. Here is some general info about our 2015 race.

TRACK

The MBV track is situated in a public park behind school buildings.

Address: Park van Relst, Aarschotsebaan 128, 1910 Kampenhout (Relst).

The track has an astroturf surface. Jumps? Oh yes, a 90° table top, whoops, a ski-iiii jump, a fabulous “wall of death”, two cobble stone sections, a tricky off camber turn, …

Special feature: unique underground drainage worth seeing. Drainage holes and pipes under the track lead to one collector on the lowest point.

The rostrum along the straight is more than 2 m high. Lap counting is installed underneath.

On the parking area right next to the track tents will be put up for pitting. Some drivers prefer pitting in the camping area which is also close to the track.

An average lap is between 27 and 29 seconds. Highest grip when the track has dried after it rained, slippery when wet. Prolonged dry weather results in slightly slower lap times.

Yes, we know all that, but what changes did Willy made this year?

The main jump has been moved to the “hoechelenkant”. The wooden washboard is in wood heaven now. The wall is covered with thicker astro. And really new is the flexy fence all around the track.

CONTROL TYRE

Schumacher Mini Spike 2, all types, all compounds for the driven axles.

Additionally for the 4WD front wheels the Schumacher Wide Stagger Rib (all compounds) will be allowed.

Cut and shut not allowed.

Recommended compound for dry weather: yellow .

Recommended compound for wet weather: silver.

BATTERIES

LiPo: 7,4 Volt originally hard cased LiPo’s.

Use and charge according to manufacturer’s instructions. Liposack recommended for charging.

Charge regime CC/CV, maximum allowed voltage setting on charger: 8.40 V or 2S.

MOTOR

No motor limit, brushless (to EFRA specifications) allowed.

MINIMUM WEIGHT

2wd 1474 g,

4wd 1588 g

TIMING

Friday: registration and free practice,

Saturday: 8 heats 2wd

Sunday: 7 heats 4wd

Timetable and briefing will be sent the week before the race.

4 qualifying rounds and 3 finals for everyone

race duration 5 minutes

round by round qualifying, 2 best to count.

RC4 decoder (hand out RC4 PT available if needed). MRT transponders probably won’t be fully compatible with an RC4 decoder.

HOTEL AND CAMPING info:

You can search for hotels near Brussels, Leuven or Mechelen.

Camping Veronique is only 3,5 km from the track:

http://www.kampeerverblijfparkveronique.be/

Camping Trianon Hever, 8 km from track:

http://www.upps.at/main/business.php?hotel_id=547&z=6〈=en&seite=1&class=1&cook_land=41

Camping in the park (3 euros per person) during the event is exceptionally allowed by the Council from Wednesday on and at own risk. The park is not a fitted camp site, there are no showers (only showers provided by nature), limited 220V from Friday on. You can bring a generator but use it wisely at night. Keep outer road free. Do not leave valuables within grabbing reach. And don’t count on quiet evenings, especially on Saturday night there will be loud music in the big party tent.

Power 220V supplied in the pits. In the camping area there will be one centralized multi socket, so bring your own good quality extension lead.

If for some reason you cannot attend the meeting, please let us know as soon as possible, as there are still drivers on the waiting list.

See you soon,

The first round of the Austrian Nationals 1/10 Offroad was held on the very old-school style track of

the SMRC Vienna - it was super slippery, bumpy and dusty, but the track layout itself was good fun with

a lot of difficult sections and a lot of elevation changes.

The first BRCA Off-Road National of the season took place at Robin Hood Raceway over the weekend. A full complement of drivers were greeted by a well prepped track and though the weather started wet, windy and cold the sun did at least appear once qualifying started on Saturday. For the 2WD event the all Astroturf track was a mixture of quick open corners with some really testing jumps and adverse camber sections. Grip was good and remained consistent once the track had dried. The defending champion Darren Bloomfield wasn’t in attendance, but the rest of the usual suspects were and competition was as tight as expected.

It was Neil Cragg that took pole position after a fabulous last round performance to just pip Lee Martin with Nathan Waters lining up third. The finals saw a cracking display of racing from the top two who proved to be a step quicker than the rest. Lee took the first leg after a mistake from Neil, with the latter making amends in leg two driving to a well controlled victory. The final leg was nip and tuck all the way with a definitive passing move from Lee flying out of the whoops to go around Neil into the banking. This was enough for the leg win and with it overall victory.

Result – 2WD

1. Lee Martin – Yokomo

2. Neil Cragg – Team Associated

3. Tom Cockerill – Yokomo

4. Nathan Waters – Schumacher

5. Tom Yardy – Yokomo

6. Simon Moss – Schumacher

7. Craig Collinson – Team C

8. Ben Jemison – Schumacher

9. Greg Williams – Team Associated

10. Kevin Lee – Team C

The weather for the 4WD event was still super windy with most of those pitting in gazebos moving into the relative safety of the huge communal marquee the RHR crew put on for the racers each year. The track layout was vastly different in shape, but saw the same mix of quick corners with various quirky features thrown in. Form was the same as 2WD with Neil Cragg and Lee Martin clearly ahead of the rest and although Lee closed the gap during the first three rounds, Neil was quickest in all of them to secure pole position with one round still to go. Just as well as the rain arrived halfway through the final round to really mix things up. The finals again were all about Neil and Lee, with Neil taking the first leg and Lee the second after some great nose to tail racing. The final leg was a fitting end to the season opener with Neil initially holding the advantage, but he made one tiny error which meant a missed apex and this was enough for Lee to pounce and dive through into the lead. With no errors from Lee it was all over as he took the leg and overall win.
