The 1/10 Worlds Warm up at Yatabe Arena, Japan proved a treasure chest for spotting new stuff – Serpent’s 2015 signings Jorn Neumann and Gerd Strenge also arrived on the Monday after the race with a complete new 2WD prototype in their bag.

In classic Gerd Strenge ‘fashion’, the car was over 80% CNC alu machined – something we’ve seen many times in the past with Serpent and Durango, although the whole front end came directly from a Yokomo YZ2. It seemed the car was belt driven, à-la Schumacher.

The upgrade set for the Serpent 747 is very popular and selling really well, so its time to make also the full kit available.

Compared to a regular 1/10 scale touringcar, the handling is very different, much easier. As you will race with a wider car of 200mm and use foam tyres on wider rims. The 1/10 200mm cars are also overall stronger ( and a bit heavier) and can take the extra power you have with ease, without wearing out fast. Even when crashing the 200mm cars are more durable and can absorb more power.

We recommend to use decent level 3S lipo, brushless motor less than 5000kV, combined with a strong 1/8 scale speedo.

You can also use a brushless set from 1/10 TC touring, but it may not handle the traction created by the foam tyres, and cause thermal issue for both speedo and motor. We advice not to use it, or only at small tracks. At larger tracks for sure use the stronger 1/8 speedo and strong motor.

The set-up of the 747-e chassis remains very close to the gaspowered one, speed is amazingly fast, and silent. A manual and the set-up sheet are posted online in serpent.com

The 747-e can also be raced in 220mm/ GT format, using the wider 1/10 GT foam tyres and a GT body ….

Recently David Hassel from Sweden joined team Serpent . David is a very skilled and talented young driver, who can race both onroad and offroad very well, but his main interest is for 1/8 offroad racing and winning !

Coming from Kyosho before, he races Serpent Cobra GP buggy since late august . His 1st race appearance with Cobra Buggy at the Nordics in Norway went really well, winning the semi-final and finished 7th overall, with speed good enough to be on the podium. 2 weeks ago he joined the Swedish Cup for 1/10 gas onroad and finished 3rd with a borrowed 733. Winter will be good for running indoor 1/8 and 1/10 offroad and also some indoor carpet racing with 411 is planned.

As soon as Serpents next bigger project the 2wd 1/10 buggy will be ready, he will test and race that as well.

Top-driver Alessio Mazzeo from Italy will continue racing Serpent 1/10 and 1/8 scale gas-cars in the 2014 season and beyond.

A busy race schedule ahead with Italian Nats AMSCI races, a number of high level Italian Cup races for 1/10 and 1/8, the EC 1/10, EC 1/8, WC 1/10 and some ENS races.

Alessio Mazzeo is part of the Serpent development team included in the testing of new parts.

Quote by Alessio Mazzeo:

"Im really happy to confirm with Serpent. I race with the team since 2005 and I’m always proud to be part of this historic brand. Cooperation with Rc designer Michael and all team drivers give always a perfect feeling which help me to concentrate on racing.

2013 was extremely positive as we were able to fight for winning the titles both with 10 and 8 scale in Italy, and finish with European and National title in 10 scale. I expect to be even more competitive in 10 scale GP for both European champs and World Championship in Thailand.

See you on the track

Somme toute logique suite à au partenariat Durango/Serpent que nous vous avions annoncé Samedi 1er septembre...

Jörn Neumann, winner of the 2006 PETIT RC RACE (2wd & 4wd) and present for the PETIT RC "CHRISTMAS" RACE 2007, the young and highly talented German driver, has joined Team Serpent.

Jörn has been racing intensively with 1/10 OFR cars and has been topping the podium in the European Championships already once and is a regular finalists at the big races. 4WD is his number one class but he has also proved very qiuck in 2wd. Jörn has been a dedicated racer and promotor of the Durango 1/10 Project and has travelled to many races with Gerd Strenge, the designer of this unique car.

As an official Nova Rossi/Proline sponsored driver, Jörn has also entered the 1/8 offroad arena and very succesfully too. At first running the TT-car in 1/8, and recently changing to the Serpent 1/8 proto-type car (still with many alien parts). An excellent results was achieved during the last Proline race in the UK, where he managed to beat the world elite drivers from Europe and USA.

Jörn will cooperate with the Serpent R&D team to develop and test a high performance 1/8 offroad car and same for the 1/10 scale offroad projects and future plans.

Jörn will be racing the Serpent 1/10 4wd Prototype during the Worlds in Japan and is also looking forward to attend the 2008 1/8 Offroad Worlds in USA.

Serpent is very pleased to officially announce that Gerd Strenge, better known as Mr Duango from Germany, has entered into a long-term cooperation with Serpent, for the development of offroad rc racing cars.

Gerd Strenge is famous in the electric offroad scene, for his very innovative Team Durango 1/10 scale 4wd offroad project. Gerd started this project in 2002 and he has been developing the car ever since. His Team Durango car has been European Champion and his cars have reached many GP, EC and even WC finals in the hands of famous drivers like Hara and Marc Reinhard.

This obviously also announces a return of Serpent in the offroad arena. Serpent has been very active in 1/8 offroad racing from mid 80-ties until late 80-ties. Cars like the legendary and EC winning Serpent Cobra and its successor the Serpent Spirit.

Serpent's R&D team and Gerd Strenge are now working together on a number of projects for the offroad market, but it will take some time before you will see the actual cars being introduced. Although proto-types have been running for a while already.

Serpent will introduce offroad cars in 2008 (both 1/10 electric as 1/8 scale) and Gerd will be one of the R&D team to work on those projects for Serpent. His massive experience in offroad and his innovative idea’s will be a major asset for Serpent to create some of the finest offroad cars the market has ever seen. His emphasis is always very much on simplicity and ease of maintenance, which fits right in with the product-strategy that Serpent has choosen.

Serpent will not be making a copy of the 1/10 Durango as it is now (as others tried or are still trying), but will take the design a few steps further into a new concept, which will ofcourse share many of the basic idea’s behind the successfull Durango 1/10 car.

At the same time development work is in progress on the 1/8 scale offroad car too. Some major races have been attended already (Proline UK race) and the proto-type will be used in a number of other large races now to further develop the car.

We are very excited to have Gerd onboard and you can expect some very attractive Serpent offroad cars in the years to come.
