Round five of the 2019/20 BRCA LMP12 nationals was hosted by Barley Mow club in Birtley in the North of England last weekend. A reduced entry compared to the last round didn’t detract from the excellent racing this championship has become known for. The event took place in a large hall with the club laying a flowing layout with a variety of corners requiring careful car setup and consistent driving to get the best time from the circuit.

Saturday would see drivers competing in 13.5 and 17.5 stock classes. In the 13.5 class there was a three way battle between David Spashett, current stock World Champion Andy Murray and Louis Parker for pole position. In round three Andy and Louis posted identical times after swapping first and second by a tenth or two throughout the eight minute run. At the end of qualifying it would be Andy who would claim the front spot from David Spashett and Louis Parker with Mark Stiles very close behind in fourth. In the final all cars would get away cleanly with Andy opening up an early lead with David giving chase. An early mistake by Louis would allow Mark through and having more pace he managed to gain a small lead over Louis. Andy would take a tone to tone win with pace that allowed him to be the only driver to make it on to the 39th lap at the tone. David would finish in second with Mark Stiles in third place and Louis in fourth.

A capacity entry of 85 drivers took part in the weekend’s racing. Unfortunately round 3 of the championship had to be cancelled in December due to structural issues with the venue meaning that the Championship has been reduced to three counting rounds from five. Chesterfield hit their usual high standards laying a challenging track on perfectly smooth carpet laid with no tape joins to upset the cars.

Mark Stiles would get the closest to Olly lining up second on the grid from David Spashett and Ollie Payne. Olly would get a clean start and after a first lap error from Mark Stiles that overturned the car of David Spashett would complete the race unchallenged taking his third win and securing the 13.5 Stock Championship. The early incident mixed up the field and in a fast and controlled drive Louis Parker who qualified fifth brought his car home in second place, a personal best finish in this class. Another great drive from futher down the field would see Matthew Varah claim the final step on the podium from 7th on the grid. Round one of the 2014/15 BRCA 1/12th nationals took place in West Kent, UK. With a full entry for round one it was shaping up to be a great event and season. The popularity of 1/12th in the UK has increased over the past two seasons which is great to see for one of RC racings oldest class.

Saturday would see four rounds of qualifying and one final for all competitors split across two classes, 10.5 blinky and 13.5 blinky. In the 10.5 class Olly Jefferies took his X12 to fastest time in every qualifying round to eventually line up on pole by four seconds with multiple world champion David Spashett lining up in second, the top two were a lap clear of third place Mark Stiles. The final was a lights to flag victory for Olly with the biggest battle being for second place, David Spashett made a mistake early on allowing Stiles through and although David tried his best to find a way past, Mark held onto second place to the end. Daniel Holmes and Aidan Ripley also made the A final driving they're XRAY x12s.

10.5 blinky results:

1.	Olly Jefferies – XRAY X12

2.	Mark Stiles

3.	David Spashett

4.	Daniel Holmes

5.	Mick Farrell

Sunday would see the classes split between open mod and 10.5 blinky but keeping the same format as the previous day. Olly Jefferies once again led the way and took the fastest time in every round of qualifying to line up on pole with Mark Stiles having a great run lining up second. The open modified A final unfortunately got cut short due to the carpet being pulled up in one area of the track, with no time to re run the race the positions were taken from the lap previous. Olly once again took the win with David Spashett second and Mark Stiles in third. Andy Murray also made the A final using the latest XRAY x12'15

Open modified results:

1.	Olly Jefferies – XRAY X12

2.	David Spashett

3.	Mark stiles

4.	Chris Kerswell

5.	Matt White

So a perfect start for Olly and XRAY. Olly took Tq and the win at every modified national last year and with this recent win has now Tq and won seven rounds in a row. Round two takes place in three weeks’ time at Stocksbridge.

Congratulations to Josh Cyrul for Top Qualifying and Winning both World GT Expert Modified and 12th Scale 13.5 at this year's 10th Anniversary International Indoor Championships!

Josh, his World GT4 and Rev.8 were pretty much untouchable all week long. He TQ'd every round of qualifying in both classes and won both A-Mains wire to wire.

In 12th scale, Josh piloted his Rev.8 to TQ with the only 45 lap run in the class, taking fast lap by a tenth. He then backed that TQ up by doing the only 45 lapper in the Main, for the flawless win.

In Expert World GT Mod, Josh's World GT4 was just scary fast. In fact, his World GT lap times would have easily put him in the top half of the 12th scale Modified A-Main! In the A-Main Josh lapped everyone up to 2nd place, and his fast lap of 9.6 seconds was FOUR TENTHS quicker the 2nd place Hupo Honigl's 10.0. Josh went on to do the only 31 lap run of the week in that class also.

The IIC 10th Anniversary race went great. HUGE turn out and great racing.

The team did very well, and it was really nice meeting a lot of SpeedMerchant customers, and helping to get them dialed in.

Josh had a super week with TQ and Wins in 12th 13.5 and World GT Expert and ended up qualifying 2nd in 12th Mod!

Asphalt Nats

SpeedMerchant drivers' Josh Cyrul & Steven Boice had a tremendous weekend, sweeping the pan car classes at this year's R.O.A.R. Asphalt Nationals held down at a very hot & steamy Full Throttle Raceway in Kissimmee Florida.

Josh & Steve were debuting the first production Rev.8 Pros and World GT4's, and the Asphalt Nats seemed like a nice place to start. Josh just received his cars the week before the race, and Steve's car was sent directly to the track where he finished building it during Thursday's practice.

With track surface temperatures of 160+ degrees, and temperatures under the pitting tent reaching a staggering 115 degrees, it would be a long hot weekend.

Even with the extreme heat, Josh & Steve's cars handled great, and they immediately set the pace for the rest of the field during practice.

After Friday's qualifying was over, both drivers held TQ in their classes by taking every round of qualifying. Josh in 12th Scale Modified and World GT, Steve in 12th scale 13.5.

Saturday was more of the same. Under the blazing sun Josh and Steve again were at the top of the charts all day long. When qualifying was over they had both secured TQ in their classes with time to spare.

Sunday would feature R.O.A.R.'s Triple A-Main format. With the driver's best two finishes counting towards their overall A-Main result. Luckily, they would each only have to run the first 2 of the 3 A-Mains. They both comfortably started from their TQ positions and drove away from the fields onto victories in each of their individual classes. After the 2nd A-Mains were finished, they were already R.O.A.R. National Champions.

Congratulations Guys, and thank you for the hard work!

The 2014 edition of the 1/12 European Championships was held at the permanent facilities of RC Landia, in Scandiano, Italy. Some 100 drivers split in two classes, from many different countries, attended the event, which was held over three days.

During the practice rounds on Friday, both myself and team mate Olly Jefferies showed a strong early pace on the challenging track. Francesco Martini was very fast with his X12 car as well, with an early pace within the top 3 positions in the competitive 10.5T blinky stock class.

As qualifying commenced, it was evident that it would be difficult to finish clean runs and collect important points - one would have to drive on the limit without hitting too many boards. In the end, it worked out very well for myself and Olly as I would take the overall TQ based on a tie break, where I had the quicker 8-minute run. Olly Jefferies would line up 2nd on the grid with 2x TQ runs as well. It seemed like it would be an all XRAY affair for the title on Sunday. However, during the last qualifying round, Olly crashed his car which resulted in a strange tweak issue, which wasn't really sorted out until the race was over. His chances for the title went away as a result, as he could not fight for a top position in the first two A-main finals. Olly came back strong to win A3 in front of Markus Mobers, but it was too late as his points were only enough for 4th overall - which is still a respectable result.

As for my finals, I was able to cruise to a win in A1 as the others got tangled up during the first moments of the race. A2 was more exciting as I was holding a steady 1-2 second lead to Markus Mobers until three laps remained, where I came together with a back marker. Markus made a hard move which put my car out of shape, with only a few corners to go, but gave back the position, showing great sportsmanship. I had won my first European Championship title ever from the TQ spot - a great result for XRAY and the X12! Congrats to Massimo Fantini as well - making the A for XRAY!

In the stock class, Francesco was a bit unlucky with crashes in the finals, but still managed to finish 5th overall which is a very good result, considering his lack of experience in this category!

A big thanks to Team La Gang of Scandiano for a great organization! It feels great to win my first EC title at this place where I have had so many good times in the past. It will stand out as an extraordinary memory for me.

<img src="http://www.petitrc.com/gallery/files/8369-nicolas.jpg" alt="nicolas schwendiman" height="600">

PRC:Bonjour Nicolas, comment va tu depuis notre dernière rencontre?

<img src="http://www.petitrc.com/gallery/files/8369-chassis_pluie_2013.jpg" alt="nicolas schwendiman chassis pluie" width="600">

<img src="http://www.petitrc.com/gallery/files/8369-chassis_2013.jpg" alt="nicolas schwendiman chassis saison 2013" width="600">

<img src="http://www.petitrc.com/gallery/files/8369-nouveau_chassis.jpg" alt="nicolas schwendiman chassis saison 2014" width="600">
