So it’s more important than ever to make sure we support our racers and our fans. The race scene is changing and that requires a change of strategy to best meet the needs of our hugely valued customers. Local racers are getting more sophisticated, more knowledgeable, local racing is getting tougher, the thirst for knowledge at this level has never been higher; social media and information sharing between our customers is now the norm. At the same time the big national and international events are often becoming less relevant to our customers. We all love to watch the Pros battle it out at the big events, but do these one off races help us make a good product for you? Upon reflection we don’t think so; testing, analysis and hard work do. With the World Championships behind us, the new season and exciting product ahead, it’s time for Team Durango to re-focus on product development and helping you win at your local track, rather than having paid Pro racers competing for national and International titles. The following plans will take us all into an exciting future. We will re-focus on local club racing; we will help you be part of a supportive Team Durango community. This will mean over the next few months we dissolve our Pro race team and replace it with a new race team program that helps support local racing. We will ccontinue to improve our parts support over the coming months to allow you to get everything you need, exactly when you need it We will increase our community support through social media and public RC forums to give you access to everything you need, to get the very most from Team Durango products. We will increase the opportunities for you to stay connected with other Team Durango racers, sharing your experiences and learning new skills from like-minded racers. We will overhaul our local team driver program; expect more news on this soon. We will release 5 all-new Team Durango cars over the coming months, including our exciting and innovative Patent Pending 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy platforms. These exciting vehicles further cement our commitment to a solid future of racing and development for Team Durango. We will stay committed to creating high-quality, cutting-edge, RC racing products, which always look cool and are always hot on the track. We will continue to develop all of our cars via ongoing testing and user feedback, as we have always done, but more so. We will maintain a strong line-up of precision racing machines that cater for the most popular RC disciplines. Stay tuned for more news, the future for Team Durango is going to be more exciting than ever.

  10. Interview du nouveau pilote Team Durango, ellis Stafford, un pilote d'expérience... To the more seasoned of our loyal followers, Ellis Stafford will need no lengthy introduction. For those of you new to the world’s fastest growing sport, who may not be aware of the truly formidable racing C.V of Team Durango’s newest pro team driver, here is the first of a series of super exclusive team driver interviews. Team Durango’s pro team just got even stronger. Welcome Mr Ellis Stafford. Team Durango – With so many manufacturers providing sponsorship deals for a driver of your experience and capability, can you tell us the main reasons that you found Team Durango the perfect home for 2013 and beyond? Ellis – I’ve been watching the cars for a while and like the way they are striving to really make the car not only really fast but also a really good product to suit everyone. They seemed to be really pushing forward as a company and when speaking to them it was clear the whole group wanted to progress things and make things better and had lots of ideas. I’m sure Durango are going to become an even bigger player in the model car world over the next few years and I’m really excited to be part of it. Team Durango – Can you explain the history for your choice of colour scheme for your racing livery and explain if you plan to alter anything about your famous racing colours for your new team drive? Ellis – Some of it is not really all that old to be honest. I’ve pretty much had the blue rear for a long time but used to have a small amount of white at the front then a peeled back section of purple leading to the blue. Then the roof used to be black with the lightening. About 8 years ago I kind of decided that really it was just too dark and going round the track it just looked like dark blue. So I decided I would brighten it up a little and came up with pretty much how it is now other than the lightening. That came back just over a year ago, I actually found one of my old shells and thought I really should have it back on them. I don’t plan to change it to be honest. People just recognise you by your colours, strange really how it should make a difference on track but it does. Just before I joined I actually had a car to try and just had one of the ready to run shells. I tried the car at Maritime (no one knew at the time and I sneaked the car on track) and everyone just tried to race me, even when I closed up really fast on them. When I’m out with my normal colours people just kind of give you room when you catch up. (...) http://www.team-durango.com/blog/2013/01/28/ellis-stafford-the-man-the-racer-the-new-team-durango-star/

  13. Last weekend Martin Kreil and Hupo Honigl attended the Austrian Winterchamps 2012. The Winterchamps were held in Hohenems, Vorarlberg, which is very close to the German and Swiss boarder; The race was fully booked out with 150+ drivers. Hupo reports on Austrian Winterchamps 2012: The carpet they used to build the track was very special; very thick and super high traction – which was a challenge to get the car right and stop from traction rolling. It was for sure the highest amount of traction I’ve ever raced on! Martin Kreil tested the DESC210R prototype for the first time ever, and clearly showed the performance of the one and only Mid-Rear-Motor-Hybrid Short Course 2wd; He was testing the car in mid motor 4 gear configuration and it was really good; Martin would win all qualifying rounds and all finals pretty easily, with a distance to second place of up to a full lap. Martin turned in the fastest lap of the race, more then a second faster then everybody else; Some other very good german drivers attended that class and just had no chance against the DESC210R – and this is just early testing. In 2wd buggy my DEX210 worked really well from the beginning; after getting the tires setup right I managed to take tq and win the event; martin had some up and downs during the race and finished on a good 4th place; my 4wd was hard work in practise, because of the crazy high traction it was pretty difficult to get the setup right; after putting a 2mm swaybar in the front my dex410 was more calm to drive and felt a lot better. Again I took TQ and won the event; martin couldn´t find the right tire setup until the last qualifier but finally got it right in the end – his finals were very rough and unlucky and could only finish 10th in the main.
