Each part of the facility was designed with both the racer and spectator in mind, with a comfortable pit area and bleacher seating for thousands. From its professionally engineered stadium lighting system, massive drivers’ stand with integrated tech and scoring booths, and an expertly manicured track surface, Silver Dollar R/C Raceway is a destination worthy of a spot on every RC racer’s bucket list. <iframe width="900" height="506" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8alhRHUFnSI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://www.amainhobbies.com/Tracks/silver-dollar-rc-raceway/photos/

  4. <img src="http://www.petitrc.com/gallery/files/3-us_champion_2013_t4.jpg" width="600"> This past weekend the 2013 U.S. Indoor Championships were held at the Holiday Inn at Strongsville, Ohio. This race has taken place in and around the Cleveland Ohio area for over 30 years on Thanksgiving weekend, and is a prestigious event that every die-hard carpet racer holds in high regard. The event recently became a part of the Midwest Grand Slam series and is round 2 of the 2013 season. While not many of the familiar names on Team Xray were present this year, the group that attend were able to maintain the level of teamwork and performance that you’d see from Team Xray at any major event, and came away with some great results. As usual, 17.5 Touring was the biggest TC class of the event. The Xray team managed to place 7 cars in the A-Main with Sam Isaacs leading the charge by putting in an excellent 4th round effort to place himself 2nd overall for qualifying. Mike Herald Jr. was on pace to TQ in round 4 when he found himself caught up in unavoidable traffic, which ended his hopes of starting as TQ. He would start P4. Danny Jenkins, Craig Xavier, Junior Norton, Todd Bigelow and Cody Woods also put in great qualifying efforts all weekend to place themselves 5th, 6th 8th, 9th and 10th respectively. The start was fairly clean resulting in a breakaway of about the first 5 or 6 cars, but the following minute or two was a little rough resulting in some tough breaks for Sam and Mike Herald Jr. They both kept pushing hard and around halfway through the feature found themselves 1 & 2 with Herald Jr. leading, and they never looked back. Sam was able to reel in Mike to make it close at the end, but Mike drove flawless and held on to win with Danny Jenkins finishing 5th, Cody Woods 6th, Craig Xavier 7th, Junior Norton 8th and Todd Bigelow 9th. Proof of the outstanding level of teamwork and dedication found within the Xray team can be seen here in the fact that Herald Jr., Sam Isaacs, Danny Jenkins and Craig Xavier all race together locally at Middle River Hobbies, just north of Baltimore Maryland. These guys have been constantly pushing each other to improve every week and the results are really showing this year! Other Xray drivers from the Baltimore area who put in solid B-Main runs at this event were Manny Flores (1st), Arvin Nano (5th) and Ray Klebanow (10th). Mike Wise and Eric Schneeweis also piloted a Xray T4 ’14s to finish 4th and 7th in the B-Main. In 13.5 Touring Xray landed 5 spots, with Cody Woods being the highest qualifier of our group, starting 2nd. Manny Flores would start 4th, Justin Lyons 5th, Brock Witmer 7th and Ray Sundland 9th. At the tone, Manny Flores got a great start and ran 2nd for a few laps, but Cody was very fast and grabbed 2nd place back, and held on till the end. Manny was able to hold on to finish 3rd, Justin placed 7th, Brock unfortunately fell out early to end 9th and Ray 10th. Mod Touring was the smallest of the TC classes, but still saw some of the usual contenders such as Keven Hebert, Andrew Hardman and Paul Ciccarello. Hot lap on the weekend in this class was 7.564 set by Xray driver Robbie Dodge in round 3, though it wouldn’t be until round 4 that Robbie put in a full 6-minute run fast enough to qualify 2ndbehind Keven Hebert, with Andrew Hardman 3rd Paul Ciccarello 4th and Xray driver RJ Whiteside starting 6th. In the main, the top 4 or 5 got off to a clean start and freight trained for about two laps until a mistake dropped Dodge to 5th. By lap 6, Dodge was able to move back up to 3rd, which is where he’d finish behind Hebert and Hardman. RJ was able to hang on to 6th for the majority of the race and picked up a spot with about a minute left to finish 5th. It was a great weekend for Team Xray picking up another win in the hotly contested 17.5 TC class, and placing multiple cars in every Touring A-Main. The turnout this year was higher than it has been in the past few years, and it is great to see success for the new group of guys running the event. Thank you Ken Miller, John Peoples, Sean Bushnell, and everyone else who helped bring this event back to the level of glory it once held. Thank's to everyone at the event and especially The XRAY team for the hard work and great results! 17.5 TC: 1) Mike Herald Jr. - Xray T4 '14 2) Sam Isaacs - Xray T4 '14 3) Dave Johnson 4) Brian Wynn 5) Danny Jenkins - Xray T4 '14 6) Cody Woods - Xray T4 '14 7) Craig Xavier - Xray T4 '14 8) Junior Norton - Xray T4 '14 9) Todd Bigelow - Xray T4 '14 10) Bill Sydor 13.5 TC: 1) Ray Darroch 2) Cody Woods - Xray T4 '14 3) Manny Flores - Xray T4 '14 4) Paul Ciccarello 5) Alex Kubilus 6) Chris Vogan 7) Justin Lyons - Xray T4 '14 8) Will Jossens 9) Brock Witmer - Xray T4 '14 10) Ray Sundland - Xray T4 '14 Mod TC: 1) Keven Hebert 2) Andrew Hardman 3) Robbie Dodge - Xray T4 '14 4) Paul Ciccarello 5) RJ Whiteside - Xray T4 '14 6) Johny Lee 7) Alston Kelso

  10. <IMG src="http://www.technicalrp.es/img_bd/gallery/web/DSC_3667.mv.JPG" width="600"> The final round of the Spanish 2WD Nats took place at the RC Hobby Garden track, located near Barcelona. The track is well known between RC Spanish drivers as one of the best tracks in the country. It was in an optimal shape for the race and there was a new paddock to accommodate the large number of drivers who were to attend the event. The race started on Saturday with a very wet track because it rained the day before. That created difficulty for the drivers and their setups, because the track would get dry gradually during the day and lose grip. From the beginning there were three favourite drivers aspiring for the podium: Robert Batlle, Carlos Pineda and Juanma Lerma, who ran this time with LRP electronics. Following them were Zacarías Villalba, Roger Sancho and an astounding Max Ricca trying to catch the leaders. In the qualifying heats, LRP drivers were dominating the top three positions. Behind them were Villalba, getting the fourth overall position, Sancho the fifth and sixth Max Ricca, with the same number of points as Ferrán Coy and Ramón Nuño, seventh and eighth, and then closing the A Final group, were Josep Galisteo and Héctor Albarracín in the tenth position. In the A-Final everything seemed like the podium would be played by the LRP trio: Batlle, Pineda and Lerma. It was a very close race between the best drivers and the best RC components. In the first A-Final, Battle gained the lead after a crash between Lerma and Pineda, so he won the race. In the second A-Final, Batlle made no mistakes and crossed the finish line the first, becoming Spanish Champion 2013 in 2WD 1/10. Third A-Final went on the fight between Pineda and Lerma. Both spent the first four minutes of the last final fighting to get the 2nd podium place but Pineda made a mistake and allowed Lerma to win. 1st Robert Batlle 2nd Juanma Lerma 3rd Carlos Pineda 4th Zacarias Villalba 5th Max Ricca 6th Roger Sancho Gómez 7th Ferrán Coy Sentis 8th Hector Albarracín Sanchís 9th Ramón Nuño Nuñez 10th Josep Galisteo Martínez 11th Javi Ortigosa Castro 12th Ramón Guasch Palma <iframe width="960" height="720" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/ROOPePrQq78" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> More Pictures: http://www.technicalrp.es/articulos/video-del-campeonato-de-espana-categoria-2wd-tt-1684.html http://jonrcfoto.smugmug.com/Hobbies/Cto-Espa%C3%B1a-2013-110-TT-4x2 Source: technicalrp / cochesrc / lrp / jonrcfoto

Some rain was expected during the weekend, but after a cloudy Saturday surrounding 15 degrees, Sunday caught us by surprise and presented us with sun and temperatures above 20ºCelcius! 12 drivers in the mod class prepared for the qualifying heats divided in 2 groups. 3 finals were run in a different format, to allow the fastest driver from any heat to be able to win the race. For this event the choosen control tire was the Ride Re34. This is a low profile, smaller diameter, less air gap tire (compared to LRP33x we´re using at the national´s) and one set is enough for a race day before it shows signs of significant wear, at least on this track. The qualifyings were nothing less than great for ARC, as Hugo Miguel TQ´d 3 out of 4 heats. In the finals Hugo driving ARC R10 2013 won all 3 mains, followed closely by my mate Filipe Costa (ARC R10) and Joao Martinho (Yokomo BD7). Just for the record Filipe and I were the only ones to post 19 laps, and I got the fastest lap of the day in the 3rd final with 16.093s. Great driving, mixed with close pursuiting gave great amusement to all drivers. Overall results: 1st - Hugo Miguel ARC R10 2013 2nd - Filipe Costa ARC R10 3rd - Joao Martinho Yokomo 4th - Alberto Carvalho - Yokomo 5th - Rodrigo Marinheiro - Yokomo 6th - Alexandre Ferreira - Yokomo 7th - Hugo Trindade - ARC R10 2013 8th - Fernando Cordeiro - Tamiya 9th - Gonçalo Alves - Yokomo 10th - Ricardo Mendes - Xray I´m very happy we achieved 2 podium finishes and a 7th place. Once again the car showed is strenght, quality and durability. I would like to thank the following: - The organizers of the event Mr. Luís Simões - BBS Modelismo, Mr. Gonçalo and Mr. Bento - Gatek Racing. - Mr. Luís Simoes (BBS Modelismo) and Mr. Jones Chu (ARC Factory) for the support. - Pedro Nunes for filming and editing a video to share and promote the hobby. <iframe width="960" height="720" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/glOzTwhx_6I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Source: Hugo Miguel

  17. PetitRC was lucky to visit A-Main Hobbies, owner of the Silver Dollar R/C Raceway which host the 1/10th Electric IFMAR World Championship. This visit was done in two times; first a visit at the shop track located in one area of the warehouse during a club race then a second time during shop opening hours. The first visit took place on Friday night before the big event. A-Main Hobbies builds an indoor clay track, named Outback Raceway, inside the warehouse. The track itself is pretty large for an indoor track covering around 90ft x 50ft (28m x 15m). It is made of clay keep slightly damp to offer high traction and the surface is mostly smooth. Track layout during the visit is as shown with the picture below: The track shows some elevation changes from under a meter to around 2m;maximum height of the banked turn – so commonly called “wall of death” – leading to the straight line. After the straight comes two 90° curves interrupted but a small jump under which is the counting loop. Follows three table tops with a S-section between the first two ones, a elevated but flat 180° turn then a second 180° turn leading to a triple which bring you to the straight line Outback Raceway hosts a club race one a week during summer time and will try to double the race events for the fall and winter season. The most popular class is 17.5 buggy as drivers have great fun competing literally one again each other; group of 3 or 4 racers were racing in great sportsmanship. The second most popular is the Stadium track again in stock form. Other classes are represented as well. On a regular basis, attendance is about 60 racers per meeting even, during the visit, less were there for various reasons explained by Ruben, the race director. The shop was visited the next day. This retail shop is located near some large groceries stores but also clothes or furniture ones to name few. The retail store is about 60ft x 20ft approximately and present a large variety of RC products; RC straight at the entrance followed on the right by a Service counter behind which there is a huge amount display of remote. Next, further right, opposite to the entrance are a variety of flying machines. The last section is all about shelves showing motors, engines, batteries, tires and others parts. The most impressive section is this last one with a large display of tires for all scale offroaders as well the parts. Everything is sorted by brand one either boxes of tires and rims or one sliding shelves for all the parts. This facility is the only hobby shop in town and the nearest one is in Sacramento area Last but not least part of the visit is the warehouse. Visit took place Thursday morning as thing were quite at the track after the 2wd event. The warehouse is located in an industrial area and nothing differentiates it much except the company logo on it. The whole warehouse is 60,000 square foot / 5500m2 including the indoor track. You enter the building in the reception hall where local customer can pick up their order if needed. Once inside, after the reception hall, there are several offices including a photo studio, customer services, finance, marketing even a testing room and even more. Those offices represent around 1/8 of the warehouse. Then, there is the storage. This area is divided three major sections: the reception area where products come in, the storage area itself and the packaging & quality check area. On the reception area, boxes are open and every item is tagged with a code. Once done, those items move to the storage area where they are sorted by brand in long lines of shelves. .the whole coding system was developed by Kendall Bennett, owner of the company. When you order some product, your order is processed by picking items following internal code and then moves to the last area. One the packaging & quality check area, several people make sure your order is well processed with a double or triple check and then safely set in a box for shipping. A Mains Hobbies was created in 2004, now has about 80 full-time employees and ship more than thousand of package per day all over the world. Also, A Mains Hobbies develops his own line of product under the brand Protek. This is conclude the visit of A mains Hobbies and this is frankly and impressive to see how much ground this company cover in term of products and categories in the RC world. You can have a detailed look at the facilities except the warehouse where pictures were not allowed here.
