  2. Yokomo Y-Max Yz2-Bmax2 conversion

    That's right, it's here! This is a Factory RC Y-Max conversion. The conversion includes a new rear 4mm carbon fiber shock tower and spacer that bolts to the Bmax2 transmission providing the stock Yz2 shock mount holes as well as an additional set of holes. Also included are the necessary 2mm shims for the transmission, and waterfall brace. We also include a new Factory RC Y-max Battery strap made entirely from 3mm carbon fiber! We give you the "factory" treatment and include a bolt on drill template to help you drill straight holes into your Yz2 chassis. If you have both cars, along with our conersion, you have everything you need!

    If you're starting off with only the Yz2 buggy you will need the following parts:

    FUNCTION & DESIGN

    The RDRP B5M Wing Mount Set replaces the kit's plastic wing mount with more durable and better performing parts. The mount is of a -7mm design that places the wing 7mm lower than the stock wing mount does which leads to a lower centre of gravity and improved jumping both on small, medium and large jumps. On top of that the high-quality 7075-T6 aluminium part grants a better support for the wing which leads to better aerodynamics and also improved durability in the event of a crash. And, above all, the new wing position looks WAY cooler!

    The RDRP Battery Plate Thumb Nuts for Team Associated 5th generation off-road vehicles are machined from high-quality 7075-T6 aluminium and they are of a super lightweight design while offering a slightly lower profile than the original ones. Excessive machining brings then down to 0.8g per piece while their overall design makes them looking gorgeous in your ride. Included with the thumb nuts come clear O-rings to prevent them from becoming loose in severe off-road action.

The CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminium construction considerably strengthens the steering assembly for less slop, a more precise steering reaction and less flex, resulting in a rock solid steering feeling and more durability in the event of a crash. The RDRP B5RM/MM bellcrank aluminium set is made for the use with B5 and T5 series kits and it comes blue anodised and laser-etched to match the remainder of our Team Associated option parts.

    What is the FF210?

    The FF210 is a conversion kit that turns the Team Durango DEX210V2 and DEX210 into a competitive front-wheel-drive buggy for low-medium bite surfaces such as dirt, outdoor clay, grass and wet astroturf.

    What makes the FF210 unique?

    The front-wheel-drive concept offers higher cornering speeds than rear-wheel-drive buggies whilst also maintaining better stability, resulting in a car that is both consistent and quick. In addition to that, the majority of the car is made with state-of-the-art materials and production techniques, amongst which the use of additive manufacturing.

    What’s does the kit consist of?

    In the kit are nylon 3D components (dyed black), carbon fibre composite plates, a clear polycarbonate bodyshell and some small parts and hardware. In addition with a (separately available) Team Durango DEX210V2 donor vehicle and electronics, you can build the FWD Buggy. With addition of a few parts, the conversion kit is also compatible with the DEX210 (details available in the price list, see at the end of the post).

  5. Montage et préparation de la X-Ray X1.

    Introduction.

    Pour être tout-à fait honnête, le "renouveau" de la formule 1 à l'échelle 1/10° électrique me laissait quelque peu sceptique. Il faut dire, que vu mon âge avancé, j'avais connu la montée et la chute inexorable et prévisible de cette catégorie à la fin des années 90. La dernière course où j'ai vu rouler des Formules 1 était le Model Car Show de 2001, et depuis je n'en ai plus vu pendant presqu'une douzaine d'années en compétition.

    Certes, des constructeurs, principalement japonais, Tamiya en tête, s'intéressait toujours à cette catégorie, et des compétitions étaient toujours organisées en Asie, mais également en Europe (championnats monomarques, ou championnats régionaux et nationaux dans certains pays, etc.). Puis c'est reparti, d'un coup, par l'arrivée de nouveaux constructeurs, motivés par des championnats à forte visibilité.

    Pour justifier mon septicisme de départ, je dirais que cette catégorie est loin de n'avoir que des avantages. Tout d'abord citons des trains roulants très fortement exposés aux chocs, car ils ne sont pas protégés par une carrosserie enveloppante. Les roues découvertes rendent de plus les touchettes entre autos parfois plus que hasardeuses. Les appuis aérodynamiques sont également sensiblement plus faibles que dans les autres catégories à cette échelle. Citons encore la nécessité pour pouvoir rouler correctement de disposer d'une surface ou d'une piste d'une certaine qualité, propre et accrocheuse. Et soyons honnête, beaucoup de F1 modernes que j'ai pu essayer, mais il y a eu des exceptions fort heureusement, sont un peu ennuyeuses à piloter, la faute à des trains avants paresseux et à des trains arrières avouant trop rapidement leur limite à mon goût. Et enfin, enfonçant encore un peu le clou en évoquant un manque d'inspiration chronique de l'immense majorité des constructeurs officiant dans cette catégorie, loin du foisonnement créatif qui existait dans les catégories type Pan Car à leur apogée, se contentant de réchauffer de vieilles recettes techniques.

    D'aucuns argumentent sur le faible coût et la facilité d'entretien. Mais ce n'est que partiellement vrai. Si on cherche à aller vite, quelque soit la catégorie, cela a toujours un coût. Et même si on sait modérer son budget, l'entretien d'une Pan Car, F1 ou autres, doit se faire avec soin, car ses performances et sa fiabilité dépendent de nombreux détails.

    Toutefois, c'est paradoxalement dans ces désavantages que se présentent l'intérêt de la catégorie Formule 1, avec des pneus en caoutchouc bien sûr. En effet, nul besoin de motorisation démente pour se faire plaisir, et une fois correctement réglée, une propulsion est très intéressante à piloter. Il se produit en quelque sorte une forme d'auto-régulation de par le grip limité et les faibles appuis aérodynamiques. Qui plus est, le mode propulsion reste toujours une superbe école de pilotage, particulièrement pour le dosage des gaz à l'accélération. De plus, la relative simplicité mécanique permet de tester et d'investiger de nouvelles voies techniques plus facilement, un terreau idéal pour les développeurs en herbe comme moi.

    Souhaitant tester quelques idées un peu déraisonnables destinées aux châssis Pan Car avec des pneus en caoutchouc, mon choix s'est porté sur la nouvelle production de la marque slovaque XRay dans cette catégorie, la X1, plus par élimination et par pragmatisme (qualité connue et reconnue, palmarès naissant et set-up disponibles facilement, importateur local sérieux et professionnel, disponibilité et suivi des pièces, etc...) que par réel coup de coeur il faut l'avouer. Mais au fil du montage, cette X1 s'est révélée de plus en plus plaisante comme on va le voir par la suite.

    Overview

    As the TLR Race Team continues to push the envelope of performance for the 22-4, they have found the weight distribution and overall balance of the 22-4 to be much better when running a “shorty” LiPo on the left side of the chassis and mounting the ESC on the right. This moves the weight a little more forward overall, improves the corner weight balance, and reduces the total weight by 75-100g (depending on the battery pack used). This new configuration is used on most all TLR 22-4 setups since mid-2014 including Ryan Maifield’s 2015 Reedy Race Champion setup. Designed as a direct replacement, no other parts are needed to convert to your 22-4!
