XRAY XT8 Description:

The XRAY XT8 is a modern, high-competition premium luxury racing 1/8 truggy that was purposefully designed and developed by Dipl. Eng. Hudy Juraj for high-competition racing, and is based on the award-winning and European Champion XRAY XB8, manufactured completely and exclusively by XRAY in Slovakia (Europe).

The XT8 is a unique purpose-built racing truggy designed around a no-compromise platform. From the specially designed truggy suspension, the optimum drivetrain concept with special truggy gear ratio, to the ultra-low CG and optimized weight balance, all is specifically designed and developed for truggy racing around the world.

XT8 sets the new standard in truggies.


The chassis is CNC-machined from high-quality Swiss 3mm 7075 T6 hard coated aluminum and is strategically machined in low-stress areas to make it as light as possible without affecting strength or rigidity. Material below the engine, fuel tank, and diffs has been removed to allow for the lowest possible center of gravity. The chassis has optimized weight balance with all parts centralized in the middle for perfect side-to-side weight balance.

All screw holes on the bottom of the chassis are countersunk, allowing for a very smooth chassis underside with no protruding screw heads. The chassis is hardcoated at XRAY’s own in-house fully robotic hardcoating line, ensuring a perfect hardcoated surface.

Strong composite side guards provide protection to the truggys internals.

Extra-robust composite braces are keyed to the chassis, guaranteeing overall chassis stiffness but still being flexible enough to allow the car to generate sufficient grip and provide the desired steering characteristics.

The radio tray, front upper deck and central diff mounting plate are all machined from high-quality Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum featuring XRAY stylish black finish with silver edging for a luxurious look.

The chassis features rigid front and rear diff housings on which all suspension parts are mounted. Easy access to both front and rear differentials makes maintenance super easy.


All suspension parts on the XT8 were purposefully designed and developed for truggy racing. The super-long arms provide maximum stability while the optimum stiffness of all suspension parts ensures maximum traction under all different racing conditions. The super-long suspension arms ensure the best handling over rough terrain and excellent landing over big jumps.

The smooth lines of the arms ensure they are very easy and clean. Dozens of different suspension arm designs were tested in virtual reality, searching for the best mix of strength, flexibility, and durability. The final design guarantees the best mix of all... providing the best on-track performance. The arms are as thin as possible to provide sufficient flex (thus generating as much grip as possible), while are still reinforced in key areas (e.g., where shocks are mounted to the arms) to ensure that forces from landing big jumps are not transferred negatively to the arms thus avoiding deformation. Front lower arms have the end of the arms narrowed to provide increased steering characteristics and thus better handling.

Suspension geometry is fully adjustable via suspension holders, and the front upper suspension features XRAY’s innovative I.S.S. (Integrated Suspension SettingsTM) design featuring eccentric bushings for different suspension adjustments.

XRAY’s stylish black finish with silver edging grace the front and rear shock towers, which are CNC-machined from high-grade Swiss 4mm 7075 T6 aluminum. The shock towers are strategically lightened to reduce weight without compromising strength. Multiple shock positions (24) allow for numerous suspension settings. Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum parts have increased rigidity, increasing the unmatched value of the XT8.

The front shock tower features XRAY’s I.S.S. composite eccentric bushings that enable quick and easy adjustment of front upper arm angle to compensate for lower arm anti-dive settings.

Arm mounts feature hardened 4mm hinge pins. The super-smooth polished pins ensure that all suspension parts move completely freely.

The kit includes both front and rear anti-roll bars that are firmly mounted to both diff cases.

The unique C-hub suspension on the XT8 features Integrated Adjustable CasterTM (XRAY patent) which enables you to adjust a single C-block through the entire caster angle range; no optional caster blocks needed! The C-block features an inclined kingpin design for increased steering and stability. The rear uprights offer an extensive range of roll center and camber rise settings.

Super-lightweight composite steering blocks are a genuine innovation in design and functionality. Each block features an inset steel bushing that is molded into the steering block itself. This concept enables the king pin screws to be firmly held in the steel threaded bushing while the end of the screw is self-locked in composite to prevent the screws from loosening during racing. The steering blocks are molded from a lightweight yet very strong and durable composite material.

Fully-adjustable turnbuckles are made from premium Hudy Spring SteelTM. A handy turnbuckle wrench is included in the kit.


The XT8 shocks are big bore and longer than standard XB8 shocks thus providing excellent damping characteristics and accommodating the increased suspension downtravel.

Shocks are CNC-machined and hard-anodized at the XRAY’s own in-house fully robotic hardcoating line, ensuring maximum smoothness inside the shock body and thus ultra-free movement of the pistons.

The kit includes three (1.3, 1.4, 1.5mm) pistons, which are mated to heavy-duty 3.5mm shock shafts made from especially hardened steel for smooth shock action. The tops of the shocks feature aluminum caps and rubber boots to prevent dirt build up. The short rubber boots work very well in contrast to standard full-size boots, which usually tear over time. The short rubber boots feature a special hard foam protector which ensures that no dust gets into the lower shock assembly.

Shocks can be mounted in multiple different positions, which were thoroughly tested and analyzed both in virtual reality as well as on-track to offer the widest possible range of shock positions. This guarantees sufficient suspension travel and best setup for flat European-style tracks or large bumpy US-style tracks.


The drivetrain components on the XT8 were specially designed and developed for the truggy racing. Thanks to a special internal ratio achieved by different crown gear and pinion gear, the center spur gear can feature fewer teeth than other conventional truggies and as such has an ultra low CG.

The world’s lightest truggy drivetrain guarantees reduced rotating weight and increased performance. All the drivetrain parts (drive shafts, diffs, and brake outdrives) are ultra lightweight, strategically weight-reduced, and are manufactured from premium high-quality top-secret Hudy Spring SteelTM. Wheel axles and wheel nuts are made from aircraft light aluminum, hardcoated for low wear and increased lifespan.

CVD drive shafts provide maximum efficiency during power transfer from engine to drive train, and even with the increased down travel available on the XT8 there is no binding in the drive train.

All drivetrain parts are specially ground and polished to ensure the highest and maximum precision, and bearings fit with the tightest tolerance on the wheel axles ensuring wobble-free drivetrain action.

Drivetrain efficiency is ensured thanks to the set of 22 precision ball-bearings used throughout. The bearings are lubricated with special grease that ensures that dust will not destroy the ball-bearings, while still allowing maximum drivetrain efficiency.


Rubber-sealed composite differential housings are manually precision ground after the molding process to guarantee a perfect fit with no vibration. Differential gears are made from pressed steel, heat treated, and machined for ultra-precision and smooth operation.

The XT8 kit features the new XRAY Premium Silicone Oils manufactured in Europe by a specialized premium silicone oil manufacturer; these new oils were exclusively created for XRAY. Each batch of premium oil is laboratory tested and calibrated to ensure the highest possible consistency and quality from batch to batch. Based on the industry-proven CST rating, the new line of oils will be easy to identify, adjust, and feel.

Main gears use HUDY steel (Spur, Pinion, Crown gear and Clutchbell) and each piece is individually machined using a precision gear machine.

Access to the center differential is super easy by releasing the upper deck with only four screws. The higher center diff housing is sized to accommodate optional spur gears.

Engine, Clutch, and Brakes

High-grade CNC-machined engine mounts help to dissipate engine heat, and are mounted through recessed engine mounting screws from the bottom of chassis.

The flywheel is CNC-machined from highest grade Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum. The clutch features 3 aluminum shoes and a set of 1.0mm springs for optimal clutch engagement.

The ventilated brake disks are laser cut, heat treated, and ground both sides to guarantee vibration-free operation. The brake pads feature high-quality Ferodo® pads for unmatched stopping power.

Brake bias can easily be adjusted via easy-to-use brake linkage.

Fuel Tank and Nitro-Related

The fuel tank – with integrated stone filter – has a molded-on splashguard to protect the brakes from fuel spillage. The tank is mounted with rubber grommets to absorb vibration. The large-capacity fuel filter is included as standard; the fuel filter is different from others as it is captured in a holder and will not turn as the result of vibration. The fuel filter is mounted to the side of the fuel tank’s splashguard to ensure that no vibrations are transferred to the fuel filter... again thanks to the rubber mounting grommets. The fuel filter is easily rebuildable and cleanable and features a very fine sieve that protects your engine from dirt.

The XT8 features the same 120cc fuel tank used by the XB8, with an optional large-capacity 150cc fuel tank available soon.

Small composite holders secure thick 5.5mm silicone fuel tubing.

The smooth-flowing and efficient air filter is made from two parts. Air filter oil is included as standard. The universal rubber elbow allows it to fit any standard 1/8 truggy engine.


The steering plate is precision-machined from Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum with XRAY’s stylish black finish with silver edging. The steering plate features three different Ackermann settings for precision steering setup.

The servo saver stands are manufactured from premium HUDY Spring Steel™ ensuring that the servo saver posts will never bend or break. The dual steering system rides on lightly oiled ball bearings providing super-smooth and super-fast servo action. The super-strong servo saver spring makes sure that the steering will be very precise in all conditions, but is still soft enough to ensure that even in heavy crashes the energy will not be transferred to the servo.

Body, Wing & Wheels

The aerodynamic rear wing is molded from a very flexible yet virtually unbreakable composite mixture. All edges are reinforced at critical areas to prevent cracking or breakage. The rear wing holders feature braces and the wing holders are mounted firmly to the rear shock tower. The holder offers many different wing-mounting positions to guarantee the optimum setting for different tracks.

XRAY Racing Dish Wheels are molded from light yet very durable material and are well suited for high-competition racing.

XRAY Thrax low-profile truggy tires are included in the kit. The low profile of the tires ensures high traction and high speed while the large sidewalls are designed for more controllable and consistent side bite. The tires are made from soft compound to generate sufficient grip in most racing conditions. A set of foam inserts is also included.

The low-profile racing truggy body was specially designed to perfectly fit the XT8 and is manufactured from premium Lexan™ material to ensure best quality and longest life.


The aluminum T6 radio tray features a lay-down steering servo and upright throttle/brake servo arrangement; both servos are placed on the chassis centerline. Heavy-duty steering horns are included to withstand the abuse from long mains.

The large molded radio box features a clean design and layout that places the weight in key areas for a balanced car. The batteries are placed on the centerline of the chassis and the lightweight receiver is placed on the side. The very easy-to-access radio box is mounted on the side of the radio plate so by releasing only a few screws the whole electronics assembly can be removed from the car for quick cleaning and servicing.

For racers not using a radio switch, a handy molded cover is included to guarantee a leak-free radio box! The tight antenna tube holder ensures that the antenna tube stays attached even if the car is flipped.


The XT8 includes a universal tool for nuts, turnbuckles and shock clips, and a separate 17mm wrench is included for wheel nuts.
