Dear RC friends,

The Model Auto Club Heemstede is proud to present to you: The 2012 IFMAR World Championships for 1:10 and 1:12 scale electric on-road.

The MACH organized its first World Championship back in 1989. Lamberto Collari won here his first of an amazing 9 World Championship titles in 1:8 scale nitro on-road.

From 21st till 28th of July 2012 the elite in electric on-road racing will gather in the Netherlands to crown 2 new IFMAR World Champions, in 1:10 sedan and in 1:12 sports cars. Will Marc Rheinhard add a 4th IFMAR title to his laurels? Can Naoto Matsukura go for a 3rd consecutive title in 1:12? We don’t know yet. But we do know that we will have the perfect stage set for these 2 World Championship events.

The MACH will prepare a world class stage for 1:12 scale at a top class venue in the city of Haarlem. The Kennemer Sports Centre will be the host for this event. A true r/c racing stadium will be built with grand stand accommodation for 500 spectators, enclosing the 20x30m carpet track area. The track design is tailored for 1:12 and is second to none. Designed to separate the men from the boys.

The rostrum complex features a 12m drivers rostrum, race control and technical inspection. The 10x50m drivers paddock will offer enough pit table space to accommodate up to 120 racers. Separate rooms are available for IFMAR and Team Manager Meetings, and to accommodate the press. High speed Wi-Fi internet is available for the print, web and internet TV media and will connect this event with the world.

And when we have celebrated the 1:12 World Champion the whole organization will move to the permanent track in Heemstede. IFMAR demanded to slow down top speed of the 1:10 scale as at this track the 120 km/h barrier would surely be broken. Hara already did 118 km/h at the ETS in 2009, just imagine the insane speeds these cars will reach in 2012. A special chicane has been added some 20m down the back straight which will slow the cars down as requested, but more importantly, will transform the MACH track in a very demanding 1:10 Worlds track.

Having organized the 2001 Euros and several ETS races the accommodation at the MACH is well known to many top racers,. A spacious rostrum with separate referee’s area on the top deck, and race control and technical inspection at the ground floor. The huge scoreboard shows the positions of all 10 cars, and monitors around the pit area will let you follow all the racing on lap time detail.

We at MACH think we have set the stage for one of the best and biggest IFMAR Worlds in this class ever. This is the main event in 2012 and you don’t want to miss it. BE THERE

On behalf of the organizing committee,

Sander De Graaf

Chairman of the organizing committee.

The MACH contacted PetitRC to present a full line-up of r/c industry sponsors

The MACH is proud to present a full line-up of r/c industry sponsors to support the 2012 IFMAR Worlds 1:10 and 1:12 scale electric in Heemstede, the Netherlands. Only with the financial support of our sponsors it is possible to organize the 2 major events.

The 1:10 ISTC event will be organized on the well known MACH outdoor track, which will have a special chicane added to the backstraight to top off some of the enormous speeds the brushless and LiPo powered cars are capable of today. Without the chicane the cars would probably go well over 120 km/h and we could see rubber tires explode. With just 2 sets available for the whole event that is not what we would like to see happen. With the chicane added the MACH track has also been transformed into a very interesting 1:10 electric course presenting the racers with a true World Championship level challenge.

The 1:12 sportscar event will be held in Sportplaza Heemstede, less than 1km away from the MACH track. This is an excellent facility with a swimming pool and restaurant. The ’CRC Fasttrack HD’ track surface will be flown in US, this carpet is recognized as one of the best racing surfaces available.

With 150 racers for 1:10 and 100 racers for 1:12 both events are fully subscribed. The 2012 IFMAR Worlds will receive wide internet coverage. LIVERC.COM from the US will be broadcasting both events live, RCRACING.TV from the UK will do daily video reports and REDRC.NET will be doing their up to the hour reports and videos live from Heemstede. Race results will be available from RC Timing including live lap-time streaming.

HOTELS

Motel Haarlem Zuid has been appointed as the official Worlds hotel, also the awards banquet will be held at this hotel. Up until middle of May single, double, triple and quadruple rooms are available at €30 below the normal prices, the rooms include a buffet breakfast. Book your hotel room now through the official WC website: www.ifmar2012worlds.com under Organization. Racers and visitors who plan to camp at trackside should also reserve their places on the WC site.

MINI-WORLDS QUALITY WARM-UP AT HEEMSTEDE (June 9-10)

The list of racers participating in the official Warm-up race for the 2012 IFMAR Worlds 1:10 ISTC is impressive, 6 or 7 of them are title candidates. How about this main final line-up for the Warm-up: Groskamp – Hara – Moore – Völker - Leino – Hagberg – Hudy – Dankel – Fischer – Steen ?

An impressive list of names. Most of these 1:10 ISTC hotshots are also taking advantage of the special Speed Week prior to the Warm-up race on 9-10 June to test their equipment on the MACH track. For those interested, lap times and top-speed information can be followed on: http://www.mylaps.com/practice/showTrack.jsp?tid=1109

A total of 57 racers have registered for the Warm-up race, another 13 for the 13.5T Blinkie class. Warm-up registration is open till June 6th. With some 70 racers this warm-up event will be a good test for the organizer, especially to monitor the tire performance. For the first time the tires may not be treated anymore, and only 2 sets will be available for the racers, for all 11 rounds. With speeds over 100 km/h and the minimum weight at 1450 grams it will be interesting to see how the tires will hold up. The WC organization has already let IFMAR know that they will ask for a revision of this controversial tire rule if it turns out that too much tire wear and damage has occurred during the Warm-up race and that 2 sets of tires will simply not go the full distance.

Preparations are now in full swing. The MACH track will therefore be closed for all WC participants from July 7th till 24th. This Worlds has received support from all major manufacturers in 1:10 and 1:12 electric on-road racing, enabling the organizer to prepare for a magnificent event, the most important race for 1;10 and 1:12 electric this year. Check out the 2012 Worlds website at www.ifmar2012worlds.com for more information.

This Worlds is not to be missed, BE THERE….
