When the original Centro C4.1 mid-motor conversion for the Team Associated B4 buggy was released two years ago it transformed the cars handling on high traction surfaces. Such was its pace it was almost seen as the unfair advantage, as Centro converted B4 buggies filled all the podium places with a 1-2-3 overall in the 2011 BRCA British National Championships. Further success followed this year with Ryan Cavellari taking TQ at the 2013 Worlds Warm-Up and Ryan Maifield taking TQ and 1st at the Hot Rod Hobbies Classic.

With mid-motor 2wd chassis’ now firmly ensconced on high traction European tracks and a growing demand now coming from the US and Canada, Centro have developed the C4.2 conversion for Team Associated B4.1/B4.2.

The success of the Centro is its simplicity. Based around a hard aluminium one-piece chassis the C4.2 features an all-new moulded gearbox and bulkhead assembly that flips the motor around and places it in front of the rear wheel centerline. On high traction surfaces having a motor off the back is not going to help you dial in that cornering speed. The C4.2 addresses these issues creating a more centralized weight balance to carry more corner speed and provide more stable jumping.

Unlike the C4.1, the new C4.2 gearbox can also accommodate Team Associated’s geared differential for further fine-tuning. The bulkhead supports the carbon shock tower, allowing the gearbox to be removed without suspension disassembly.

Newly designed aluminium CNC rear suspension blocks now feature removable delrin inserts for improved longevity and maintenance. Blocks provide 3° toe-in with provision for 1° or 2° anti-squat. An optional 2.5° toe-in block is also available for further tuning along with Team Associated’s outboard FT blocks.

After many hours of testing the C4.2 chassis is now +9mm longer than the original and along with the battery X-brace is optimized for a variety of battery positions, allowing for weight balance tuning. The chassis can cater for saddle pack and shorty packs in fore and aft positions.

Further optional tuning possibilities are available with Centro’s range of brass weight accessories such as front bulkhead weights, front brace and carbon chassis side stiffeners.

So if you are racing on high traction surfaces convert today and watch those lap times fall.

Le diff a pignon passe dans la boite du C4.2, pour le chassis, visiblement faut toujours les renforts latéraux .

Préparation C4.2 par ludovic valtier

Voici en quelques photos et quelques mots, la préparation du centro C4.2 pour pas trop être ennuyé sur la durée , et pour la prochaine manche nationale à Neuville de Poitou :)

Le support voit les pièces avid anodisées noires prendre la place des pièces alu bleues d'origine. on peut meuler le support sur le coté pour que la bague bleue ne touche pas le support sur cet ancrage volontairement couché pour de meilleures réceptions de sauts.

Les vis sont passées au spontex à l'aide de la dremel simplement parce qu'entre les dessins animés et téléfoot le dimanche matin t'as 2h00 à tuer ....

Pour le train avant, la cellule ghea est tout le temps en place, mais pas la pièce laiton option avant qui amene bcp trop de poids et desequilibre la voiture (je trouve) . Meuler ou limer les bouts de triangles pour que tout soit libre

Aux worlds, la voiture ne passait pas dans la boite d'origine. Il faut poncer en (8) les hexagones avants pour ne plus avoir de soucis !

Cette rotule se barre toujours, le frein filet est ton ami dans le métal . alors frein filetez !

Le système de direction doit être serré mais libre, avec le moins de jeu possible, mais ne pas brider la direction ! les biellettes jconcepts remplacent les asso d'origine et respirent la solidité

Vue du train avant avec le poids optionnel sur la cellule. les chappes sont des chapes RPM qui tiennent bien mieux.

Pour la boite de diff elle s'entrouve légérement sur la partie haute. ne pas trop serrer les vis ou ajouter une rondelle car certaines vis viennent toucher le slipper pad de l'autre coté. évidemment frein filet, surtout sur les 2 vis a l'interieur de la boite qui se desserrent facilement. la boite est beaucoup plus libre que sur le C4.1 ce qui offre des meilleurs controles d'assiette en l'air et plus d'avant . moins de drag brake lié à la boite en fait !

Le support arrière également doté des maintiens d'amorts AVID . le point d'ancrage de la rotule arrière joue un role capital ! en bas pour avoir de l'arrière et en haut pour en avoir moins.

Voici le "bulkead" alu arrière option qui rigidifie tout l'arrière ! nettement moins de flex qu'avec la version plastique ! adopté !!

Nouvelle butée AVID Option ! ca a l'air magique et elle existe en 2 versions dont la céramique !<br>

Pour la refonte du diff, toujours pareil, les billes ASC6584 asso qui me paraissent les meilleurs ! quelques seringues de chirurgien pour faire genre je refais souvent mon diff alors j'suis outillé ! la butée avid et prends le temps de bien faire travailler avant de resserrer peu à peu et recommencer jusqu'à avoir un diff nickel !

On ressort la dremel pour les triangles arrières ou le cardan touche un peu :)

les pièces alu qui maintiennent les hinge pin prennent moins de jeu qu'avant . les fusées arrières sont inversées pour une biellette plus droite

Ajout d'un axle shim sur le top shaft ! en gros une petite rondelle sur le top shaft du slipper pour moins de jeu :)

on prépare l'aileron en le découpant propre, un bon coup de spontex pour le matifier , un coup de dremel pour les angles !! rien de spécial :D

Petite question...

J'ai un b4.2 et j'avais envis de le commander le kit c4.2.

Le c4.2 marche t'il sur piste terre et extérieur aussi bien qu'un b4.2, ou c'est vraiment typé moquette et indoor?

The Centro C4.2 conversion kit has been an instant hit with racers wanting to convert the race winning B4.2 into a mid-motor buggy. JConcepts has immediately jumped on-board with options and accessories for this highly competitive vehicle. The R&D team at JConcepts quickly identified 3 key areas where the C4.2 could be improved upon. In stock trim the C4.2 includes a molded rear bulkhead which is highly flexible and a target to damage in severe crashes. The JConcepts suspension kit includes an all CNC machined aluminum version which has been trimmed, narrowing the stance allowing more room for narrow rear pivot camber link adjustments. The bulkhead is available in blue or black color and has silver chamfered edges around the border and inner cut-outs. The tucked design, trimmed shape and pocketing give the racer an extremely durable yet light-weight piece.

The 4mm Carbon Fiber shock tower has all the necessary adjustments including the standard outer (C4.2) camber link positions and the newly added inboard camber link holes to accommodate a narrow pivot rear suspension. The shock tower has the JConcepts touch, including added rib positioning to strengthen the tower where appropriate and to allow big bore shock and transmission clearance where necessary. The upper shock mount positions have been relocated to allow for proper rear suspension droop while all holes are designed on an arc to minimize droop changes during setup changes.

The final touch to the assembly are the aluminum rear wing mounts. The stock wing mounts place the wing extremely high on the vehicle, raising the center of gravity and increasing the pendulum effect of the rear-end. The JConcepts wing mounts place the wing more than 7mm lower than stock and have been spaced closer to accommodate the more popular wings on the market, allowing a more interchangeable wing between the B4 and C4 vehicles. The aluminum wing mounts are light-weight, durable and set the wing at just the right height giving the vehicle a more natural rake in appearance. All additional 4-40 hardware is included to make the conversion a snap. Upgrading to the JConcepts rear suspension kit gives the racer more performance, durability, functionality and more wing choice flexibility.

All Suspension Kit items and #2328 C4.2 aluminum narrow pivot, rear suspension mounts are also available separately for easy rebuilds and upgrades.

pour moi oui je les monté avec beaucoup de piéce du b4.1 et rajouter les big bore de mon b4.2 et pas de soucis

ok alors juste il faudra que je mette le palier direction alu et les portes fusees alu mais je les trouvent pas!!! je trouve que le pallier sur wartelle !! sinon train avant et arriere c'est bon . j'ai juste a acheter le kit alors? si vous avez des sites pour ces options ca serait cool c'est bien comme ca je garde mes jantes etc...

Oui c'est du mid, sur terre ou herbe prend le b4.2 d'origine

OUI ET NON car sur la terre bien réglé le centro peut être bien plus rapide que le b4.2

J'ai vu qu'on pouvait utiliser plusieurs type d'accu sur le c4.2, y à t'il une différence entre les shorty ou des saddle niveau comportement de la voiture?

JConcepts has dropped an additional option for C4.2 owners with the release of the narrow rear pivot suspension kit. The C4.2 comes stock with a slightly wider rear suspension pivot geometry which allows the vehicle to react appropriately in extremely high-grip conditions. However, when the traction is lower, additional swing is needed in the rear-end and justifies the narrow rear pivot suspension. By decreasing the size of the camber link, inner pivot virtual rectangle, the buggy transitions left to right quicker, applying force against the rear tires giving that moment of forgiveness. Drivers feel more confident as traction breaks allowing them to power down slightly quicker transitioning into a forward moment. This setup is especially good in medium to high traction conditions which drivers see on outdoor and indoor tracks throughout the year.

*The narrow pivot mounts must be used in conjunction with the #2323 C4.2 rear suspension kit to take full advantage of the rear suspension geometry.

Schelle 3/32" Tungsten Carbide High Precision Balls are the perfect upgrade for the ball differential in your Associated or TLR vehicle. These are the highest precision possible, with each ball measuring the same diameter at all points within 10 / 1,000,000 ths of an inch. This precision give you the smooth feeling diff like a cermic diff ball, but with the perfect hardness and ease of setting that comes with a Tungsten Carbide diff ball.

The Schelle Ceramic Caged Thrust Bearing for AE and TLR gives the diff maximum smoothness and is easy to build. The 6 caged ceramic balls run on a hardened, grooved ring to keep the diff smooth longer than anything else we've found.

Fits the following vehicles: B44.2, B4.2, T4.2, Centro C4.2, Centro T4.2, SC10.2, TLR 22-4.

Pro Tip: If you encounter an issue with the diff screw bottoming before the diff is tight, add a flat kit thrust washer over the diff screw (closest to the screw head) to act as a spacer. In some cases the shoulder on the diff screw can bottom out due to the smaller thickness of a caged thrust.

Ce n'est pas ma voiture mais celle d'un pilote qui m'a fait passer les images.

Voici la fiche de réglages, il est indiqué les pièces utilisées. Par contre, il y a des modifications à faire.
